Jui Tui Shine

Jui Tui Shine is one of Phuket ‘s oldest and most influential chinese shrine. Its story began over a century ago at Soi Romanee, founded by a Chinese opera trope. After a major fire, the sacred incense was moved to its current location on Ranong Road in 1911 The mane “Jui Tui” reflects its surrounding at the time: “Jui” means water and “Tui” means a mortar for pounding rice, referring to the water-powered grain mills that once lined the nearby canal. Today it is heartbeat of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, serving as the main site for sacred rituals like the fire-walking ceremony and grand street processions.
